This month, our team came together and raised $5,320 for a colleague in need.
The fundraiser, initiated by ISPA employee Tristan McCausland, was to support co-worker Dave Corley and his daughter Violet, who was born with CHARGE syndrome. Violet has a tracheostomy, feeding tube, hearing aids and she is visually impaired. As primary caregiver, Dave is responsible for many costs related to purchasing supplies, daycare, private nursing and travelling back and forth to SickKids hospital.
“I saw an article about Dave and his daughter in the local newspaper and I wanted to help,” said Tristan. He approached the owners of ISPA about running an internal fundraiser and they agreed to match any amount raised. In two weeks, the employees raised $2,660 and ISPA matched it for a grand total of $5,320.
Dave was presented with the cheque last Tuesday, to which he replied, “This was so unexpected. Thank you so much. You guys really are like family.”
